How to ease bowel movements after Hemmorrhoid surgery?

My mom recently had the removal surgey and everytime she goes to the bathroom it hurts her realllly bad. It like she takes 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. I feel so bad for her b/c its nothing i can do... :( Is their anything other than ibprofen/ stool softeners that you may know to help ease pain? I want to help her sooo bad!!
