How to make a suggestion to my husband?

My husband gets offended if I give him a suggestion about something. He takes it as I am being bossy and wanting it done my way. I only give him a respectful suggestion when I feel it would be easier for him. For example-he was cleaning the top of the toilet seat with a cotton ball and comet-I suggested he use the lysol wipes I bought because it would be easier for him, I said it in a really nice way. I was just communicating with him. Honestly it is in a really loving nice way. Does anyone have any suggestions or is he just choosing to react in such a manor?
