Sometimes my parakeets go crazy at night, opinions?

Have you tried covering the cage at night? My family has a ateil and that's what we have to do with her. Something about the cage being covered quiets her down and she settles down to go to sleep. It doesn't have to be a fancy cover, just a sheet will do.
