If I'm to work at a hotel in Newport Beach where do you suggest I live if I'm on a rent budget of $1000 pmon?

My pay rate wont be very high I estimate I can afford $1000 per month. What areas are safe, but more affordable to live? any suggestions? I'm a very frugal person. I don't mind a 20 to 25 min commute
