Is there a connection between Islamic sharia and Marco Polo?

For a question on my world history homework we have to write a paragraph on the connection between both of theese things, but I can't find one. I read the chapter twice, but the they aren't mentioned anywhere near each other. The only time sharia is mention is when it says that Ibn Battuta use the sharia in his role as a qadi in India. There's a whole page on Marco Polo, but I can't find any way to relate him to sharia. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
