Mixed signals?

i can't tell the difference right now with a guy friend of whether hes flirting or if hes just being a friend. like today, he complimented a picture that i sent him after i sent it saying that i looked bad but the hair looked good. we kinda started joking around with greys anatomy plotlines after he said that i looked like ava (he watches greys by choice) and said that i would need facial reconstruction to be like her and he said that i would never need it and that i shouldn't get in any ferry accidents any time soon. its just weird cause the guy friends who i have act nothing like he does so i don't know if theres anything going on. the one weird part is that we've sat together at swim team dinners when he could sit anywhere else..... insight would be greatly appreciated and feel free to message me if you want to know anything else!!
