Great News!!! Most vet clinics will trim your cats nails for you, and they should be able to do a pretty good job. THEN, they can or you can apply Soft Paws which are soft plastic covers that you basically super glue over their actual nails. They last about 6 weeks and work great. They should have them available at pet stores, and our vet clinic carries/applies them for you. And, scratching is a natural instinct, as far as the carpet goes.
