Hit a fire hydrant and broke it, now what?

Here's the story. I backed into a fire hydrant in my townhouse (condo) parking lot. It broke right off but no water spraying out. I called police, they called fire fighters and they called city workers. The city said it is on private property so they cant fix it but it would probably only be about $1000 to fix, and told me to call the condo corp. I called them, told them the story now they are telling me it is going to cost $10,000 to fix! The condo wants me to pay these damages, but I don't believe it should cost that much and they wont get a second opinion. They have these guys coming tomorrow to fix the hydrant. I cannot put it through insurance because I was driving my company vehicle and my boss said if I have another accident or make any claims the insurance company would drop me, and I would end up losing my job. What can I do?!
